Requirements

What you may need to apply with Zoomy

An application is built from a few categories. Which ones apply to you depends on your area and the types of work you choose, and Zoomy Driver shows the current requirements for each one.

This page explains what applying involves. Reading it is not an application, and completing requirements does not mean you’re approved.

The categories an application is built from

Not all of these apply to everyone. Zoomy Driver shows which ones apply to the types of work you choose, in your area, and what each one is asking for.

  1. Identity

Zoomy Driver may ask you to verify your identity using an ID and a selfie. The app explains what is needed and how the information is used.

  2. Screening or checks, when required

Some types of work ask for a background screening, and a driving-record check is a separate thing that may not apply to every role. Zoomy Driver tells you what applies before anything starts. If there is a fee, the app shows the current amount and what it covers first.

  3. Vehicle, equipment or documents, when required

If a type of work depends on a vehicle or equipment, you tell Zoomy Driver what you have and add the details or documents it asks for. Having a vehicle or equipment does not approve you for the work on its own.

  4. Skills or training, when required

Some types of work ask you to complete something in the app first. Training counts for the requirement it is meant for, and telling us about experience you already have is not the same as a required skill being verified.

  5. Other current requirements shown in Zoomy Driver

Requirements change. The app is where the current list lives, for your area and for each type of work you choose.

This is not a list of things you need to have ready before you start. You can begin your application and Zoomy Driver will show you what it needs, one thing at a time.

Driver, Helper, or both

You choose the types of work you’re interested in, and that choice shapes what your application asks for. You can choose more than one, and you can change your mind later.

Driver

Driving roles may include vehicle, equipment or document requirements. Zoomy Driver shows what applies to the work you choose.

Helper

Some helper work may not require you to drive. Zoomy Driver shows the current requirements for each type of helper work.

Both

You can apply for more than one. Each type of work is reviewed on its own, so some may be approved before others.

Changing the types of work you’re interested in does not reset unrelated completed requirements. If something later expires, changes or needs renewal, Zoomy Driver shows what needs attention.

Why requirements can differ

Your area

Rules and available work are not the same everywhere, so two people in different places can be asked for different things.

The type of work

Moving a sofa and dropping off a parcel are different jobs. What each one asks for reflects that.

What you bring

Your vehicle, your equipment and anything you’ve already completed change what is still outstanding for you.

Things change

Requirements are updated from time to time. The app shows what is current rather than what was true when this page was written.

Requirements differ and change

Requirements can vary by area and type of work. Zoomy Driver shows the current requirements when you apply.

What the words in your application mean

As you go, each thing in your application sits in one of three places. There is always one clear next action, and if there isn’t one, the app says so.

  • Needs actionSomething is waiting for youThere’s a step you can take now. The app tells you what it is and you can stop and come back to it later.
  • Being reviewedYou’ve done your part and it’s with usNothing for you to do right now, and nothing to send again. If we need something else from you, Zoomy Driver will tell you.
  • CompleteDone, and it stays doneCompleted items stay visible in the app instead of disappearing, so you can always see what you’ve already handled.

Something else being reviewed does not by itself turn a completed requirement back into unfinished work. If a completed requirement later expires or needs renewal, the app shows it clearly.

One type of work can be approved before another

Some types of work may move forward while others are still being reviewed or still need action. Separate readiness steps can still apply after approval.

An example of how this looks
  • A type of work you applied forApproved
  • Another type of work you applied forNeeds action
  • A third type of work you added laterBeing reviewed

If something is missing or has expired, it affects the work that depends on it rather than everything you’ve applied for.

What happens after approval

Approval for a type of work may be followed by additional readiness steps before you can request work.

Zoomy Driver can show opportunities you may be eligible to request. You request the role you want, and the app shows whether it becomes assigned work. Being approved for a type of work is not a promise of available work, hours or earnings.

Questions people ask

Do I need everything on this page before I start?

No. These are the categories an application can be built from, not a list to gather in advance. Zoomy Driver shows what applies to the types of work you choose and asks for it a step at a time.

Does completing the requirements mean I’m approved?

No. Zoomy reviews the types of work you apply for separately. Some may be approved before others.

Something says it’s being reviewed. Should I send it again?

No. Being reviewed means you’ve done your part and there’s nothing for you to do right now. Zoomy Driver tells you if it needs something else from you.

If I change the work I’m interested in, do I start over?

No. Changing the types of work you’re interested in does not reset unrelated completed requirements. It can change what is still outstanding, and Zoomy Driver shows the difference.

Is there a cost to apply?

Some types of work require a screening. If a payment is needed for one, Zoomy Driver shows the current amount and what it covers before you pay. Paying means the screening can start; it does not mean it has been passed.

What happens to my ID and personal information?

Zoomy Driver may ask you to verify your identity using an ID and a selfie. The app explains what is needed and how the information is used before you start.

Once I’m approved, can I start straight away?

Approval for a type of work may be followed by additional readiness steps before you can request work. Zoomy Driver shows what is left.
