Guide · Choosing work

Which type of Zoomy work may fit you?

Explore the kinds of work, roles and requirements you may want to consider before starting your application.

This guide is here to help you think it through. It does not decide anything. Zoomy Driver confirms the current requirements and options for the work you apply for.

The short version

  1. The Zoomy marketplace has three kinds of work: delivery, moving and junk removal. Within them there are Driver roles, and Helper roles may be available for some work.

  2. What you drive, or whether you drive at all, changes which roles you may want to look at. It does not by itself decide what you are approved for.

  3. You can apply for more than one type of work, and Zoomy reviews each one separately. You do not have to settle on a single answer before you start.

Requirements and available work differ by area, role and type of work, and they can change. Zoomy Driver shows what currently applies to the work you choose.

Four questions to narrow it down

Answer these for yourself. Each one tells you which part of the marketplace to read about next — none of them produces a result, and nothing here is submitted anywhere.

Question 1

Do you want to drive, or to help on site?

  • Drive
  • Help on site
  • Open to either

This is the first fork, because Driver roles and Helper roles ask for different things. If either would suit you, you can look at both when you apply.

Question 2

What vehicle or equipment do you have access to?

  • Car
  • Pickup
  • Cargo van
  • Box truck
  • No vehicle

A vehicle shapes what you may want to explore; it does not by itself decide what you qualify for. Some Helper work may not require you to drive.

Question 3

What kind of work do you actually want to do?

  • Driving
  • Lifting and carrying
  • Working on your own
  • Working with other people

These are preferences about how you like to work, not descriptions of every job. Being honest with yourself here is the part no requirement list can tell you.

Question 4

Are you open to extra requirements or training?

  • Keep it simple
  • Happy to add a Skill
  • Open to training

Some types of work ask for more than others — documents, a Skill you can show, or training. What is asked for depends on the area and the work, and the app shows the current list.

Requirements to consider →

These four questions are a way of thinking, not an assessment. Nothing you read here grants eligibility, and no combination of answers means you will be approved for a type of work.

The types of work

Three kinds of work, named so you can tell them apart. Which of them exists in your area, the roles within them and what each one asks for is shown in Zoomy Driver when you apply.

  • Delivery

Driver and Helper roles

The same job can need someone to drive it and someone to work it. Here is how the two differ. Neither is the better option, and neither is a step towards the other.

This is a description of two roles, not a recommendation. Approval is scoped to the types of work you applied for, so being approved for one does not carry over to the other.

Vehicle and equipment

A vehicle shapes what you may want to explore; it does not by itself decide what you qualify for. The requirements for any specific type of work are the ones Zoomy Driver shows you.

  • Adding a vehicle in Zoomy Driver tells the app what you have. It is not approval for anything, and the name of a vehicle does not tell you which documents apply to it.

Requirements to consider

  • They vary, and they change

Requirements depend on the area, the role and the type of work. Zoomy Driver shows the current ones for the work you apply for.

  • Confirming who you are

Confirming your identity is part of applying. Some types of work also ask for screening or checks where those are required.

  • Skills and training

A Skill is something you can show. Training is something a type of work may ask you to complete. A Skill you add may need evidence or review before it counts.

  • There is no single approved status

Each type of work you apply for is reviewed separately, and some may be approved before others. Approval for one does not cover everything.
